About Us

Loaves and Fishes is a safety-net food program serving anyone in need in Contra Costa County.  For over 38 years Loaves and Fishes has provided hunger relief to individuals, families, seniors, disadvantaged youth and people with disabilities. Over the years we have become a reliable and reputable food program in Contra Costa County. We continue to serve anyone in need nutritious food, provide a food pantry and have a workforce development program by providing culinary classes through the Loaves and Fishes Culinary Training Program for adults experiencing barriers to employment. Loaves and Fishes serves a daily hot meal from 5 dining rooms in the county: Antioch, Martinez, Pittsburg, Oakley and Walnut Creek. The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs.  We nourish lives!

St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County provides person-to-person service of time, talent and resources to help neighbors in need regardless of gender, national origin, race, or religion. St. Vincent de Paul is a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need. SVdP of Contra Costa County is one of the most-trusted safety-net non-profit organizations, serving vulnerable families of the county for over 57 years. Annually, St. Vincent de Paul delivers over $1.7 million of in-kind aid, (mostly food, medical & dental care), and over $1 million of direct aid, (mostly rent and utility assistance). Our 752 volunteers serving from the 29 SVdP branches donate over 70,000 hours of volunteer service annually.
