Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is a safety-net food program serving the hungry living in Contra Costa County. For over 35 years Loaves and Fishes has provided hunger relief to individuals, families, seniors, disadvantaged youth and people with disabilities. Over the years we have become a reliable and reputable food program in Contra Costa County. In FY 2017-2018 we are continuing to serve the hungry nutritious food, provide a food pantry and just recently started a workforce development program by providing culinary classes through the Loaves and Fishes Culinary Training Program for adults experiencing barriers to employment. The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs. We nourish lives!
Rotary is a service oriented organization of business men and women. Rotary International has over 30,000 clubs worldwide and is now the largest private non-profit organization in the world. Rotary Club of Walnut Creek is one of those clubs and is dedicated to service in the world, our country and our community of Walnut Creek. The club raises funds in support of its programs from its members and through several community fundraisers, such as our annual crab feed. There are also social activities throughout the year for Rotarians and their families. The club has a sister club relationship with the Rotary Club of Tokyo-Kohoku in Japan and every year we exchange students for a brief summer visit. Many upstanding youths of the Walnut Creek community have participated in this adventure. It is the longest running club to club program in Rotary.
